Teacher-led event
Trinity Lutheran Church
Oct 08 — Nov 12
Travel throughout Turkey and Greece and consider what it was like to live in the Roman Empire, particularly the difficulties faced by early followers of Jesus.
We will consider what it was like to live in the Roman Empire, particularly the difficulties faced by early followers of Jesus.
By exploring present-day archaeological sites, we will learn about the aspects of Roman city life that formed the backdrop for the spread of the Gospel.
We will also explore how life in the Roman Empire shaped the way Bible writers, like Paul, communicated the Good News of Jesus. By using word pictures and imagery familiar to their audiences, these writers conveyed powerful messages that continue to challenge us to live faithfully for Jesus today.
Oct 08 – Nov 12
6 sessions over 6 weeks
At events, participants will receive a workbook for notes and will have the option of viewing the video lessons in a VR headset (limited supply) or by wearing 3D glasses.

The Roman theater was much more than a place for entertainment; it served to shape public opinion, reinforce Roman values, and sway the hearts and minds of the people. Even though theaters often conveyed messages that differed from Jesus's teachings, the writers of the New Testament still used theatrical language to connect with their audience.
